Stream Mapping

Stream Mapping

Stream Mapping allows the user to set ‘aliases’ for the labels of incoming data streams, and to pre-define a default colour for display in a waveview window.

To add a mapped identifier, either use the ‘Add’ button, or press the ‘Insert’ key.
To remove a mapping, select the mappings to remove, then either click the ‘Remove’ button or press the ‘Delete’ key.
To edit a mapping, either double-click the mapping entry, or select and click ‘Edit’.

When a mapping is defined for a stream ID, the mapped text will appear in the Main window for the stream (right pane), in the WaveView windows, and on page printouts.

The labels in the WaveView window automatically scale down in size as necessary to fit the mapped ID into the width of the panel. This could make long text appear too small to read. Label panels can be resized. See WaveView Window for more information.

All internal referencing will still use the ‘real’ identifier, although some of the sorting options in the Main window will not function in the same manner.

The mapped text can also be used to generate the file name for the recording of the stream. This restricts the range of characters than can be used. The following characters are not allowed in file names:

\ / : * ? " < > |

Since the length and structure of the mapping text is open (and not guaranteed to be suitable), the original ID is still used to generate the identifiers within the supported recording formats.

To set a default stream colour for a mapped stream, click on the line for the mapping, under the "Col" columns (for colour). A colour selection dialog box will pop up, allowing the user to select a default colour.
