By default, all events are recorded in a file called ‘error.log’.
Additional options allow the control over the generation and size of log files.
File for each data source
If ‘File for each data source’ is selected, then each log message is recorded in a different file, depending on the type.
Two different types of events are logged: those specific to an incoming data stream, and those detected or generated by Scream itself.
The events relating to incoming data streams are those which indicate red in the ViewInfo window. The file names for these events depends on the source:All other events are logged in Scream.log. These include Application start and stop, etc.
- Serial port inputs are logged in ComPortX.log, where X is the port number (e.g. Comport2.log).
- Network inputs are logged using the IP address of the originating computer (e.g. 192_168_10_10.log). Note that the dots between the IP numbers are replaced with an underscore.
- File and SCSI disk replays are logged in Replay.log
Limit to (n) Kb
If Limit to (n) Kb is selected, then when any of the above files reaches the specified size (n), the file will be renamed to ‘.OLD’, and a new ‘.LOG’ file started. Any existing ‘.OLD’ file will be discarded.
