Error Logging Options

Event Logging Options

Every data block that is received is checked for consistency and validity. Any errors are displayed in the ViewInfo Window as an item highlighted in red.

A log file of these errors can also be recorded. When ‘Enable Event Log’ is selected, the errors are logged to a file. The name of the file depends on the file logging parameters (see Log Files)

The directory for these files can be specified in the ‘Directory‘ box. This can either be typed in, or selected from the ‘Browse...’ option.

To select which of the conditions are logged, select or clear the appropriate box. The Error conditions are:

Block Sequence Errors
Suspicious Systems IDs
Invalid Time Code
Invalid Sample Rate
Invalid Compression Code
Invalid Block Duration
End Sample Mismatch
Checksum Errors
User Commands
Data Discontinuities

Extended filing is available using the options in the Log Files section.

Each entry in the log file includes all relevant fields within the header, and a brief text description of the error detected. The fields are listed in the following order : IDChar, Block Number, Block Size, system ID, Stream ID, Date, Time, Sample Rate, Compression Code, Number of Records, End sample read, End sample as calculated, Checksum read, Checksum calculated. See Block Transfer Protocol for a description of the fields.
