Scream can save files in MiniSEED format. See Recording Options.
Files are recorded using the parameters specified in the recording options, including fragmentation and directory. Filenames are created using the same date-coding system as ‘.gcf’ files, but use the extension ‘.msd’.
Steim-1 Compression is used to store the data in Motorola byte order, in 4K blocks.
If discontinuous data is detected, the old block is written to disk (partially empty), and a new block is started, with a new timestamp in the header. New files are only created in accordance with the fragmentation parameters as set in the Recording Options.
