Trigger List

Trigger List Window

This window can be opened either:

  1. In the main window, right-click on an instrument, and select the "Triggers..." option from the pop-up menu
  2. In the summary window, double-click on the "trigs" column indicator for the desired instrument.

This window has two sections - the upper section shows a list of triggers. The list contains Start Time, End Time and trigger type. Possible types are:

R=STA/LTA Ratio
L=Level trigger
E=External input trigger
S=Software trigger

An asterisk (*) on the Start Time indicates that it is 'new', that is it has not been reset. When the user clicks the "Reset All" button on the Summary window, all triggers are flagged as old, and the green highlight in the summary window goes off.

The lower section of the Trigger List shows the actual status messages from the digitizer that relate to that trigger.

There are a number of interactive options with the Trigger List:
If the user double-clicks on a trigger (or selects and presses "Enter"), the main window selection switches to that instrument and data streams, and a WaveView Window is opened, in pause mode, with the time span relating to the trigger that the user double-clicked on. In addition, the time cursors on the WaveView window are positioned to relate to the Start and End times of the event.
If the user double-clicks on one of the lines of status (in the lower section), one time cursor is positioned on the Start Time of the trigger, the other cursor on the timestamp of the selected status line.

The user can select a trigger, then press the "Del" key on the keyboard, which deletes the trigger from the list. This can be used, for example, to allow the user to discard triggers that are of no interest.
To clear the list completely, use the Ctrl-Del key combination.

Note: The data for the triggers is held in the stream buffer, the same as any other data, and obeys the same rules of buffering. This means that as new data is received, the older data will drop out of the buffer, and may no longer be available for display when the user double-clicks on old triggers.
