What is a Stream

The term used to describe a data sequence from a unique source. A stream can be the output from one tap of one component of one instrument, or the status information from one device. Generally, the stream ID is composed of three parts: the device serial number, the component identifier, and the tap identifier. For example stream 1234Z2 is a stream from instrument 1234, Vertical component (Z), 100 samples/sec (2).
